Crisis Management – Revealed

Mangaard & Partners had the privilege of being the facilitator at a talk show at the Danish Branded Goods Association’s 50-year Anniversary on March 8, 2018, in Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center in Copenhagen.

The talk show with Mats Jansson (Chairman of the Supervisory Board at AHOLD DELHAIZE) and Chris Van Steenbergen (Chief Human Resource Officer and Executive Team Member at HEINEKEN) was very engaging and Karen-Helene Hjorth (TV2 News anchor) managed to interview Mats and Chris on the topic of Crisis Management in a captivating and dynamic manner that brought the insights and experiences to the audience in a way that revealed the strong emotions behind the crisis scenarios.

The talk show was characterized by the intensity and graveness of some of the cases touched upon. Chris shared his extensive experiences on how he handled two hostile take-over attempts from major competitors while in Cadbury and Heineken. Mats revealed exciting insights on how he dealt with the tragic aftermath of the 2008 Spanair airline crash – from the perspective of the CEO position in SAS as well as on a personal level. Gripping stuff! Besides, the talk show was well balanced with exciting learnings, interesting anecdotes and a great deal of humorous banter between the supplier and the retailer.

Mats Jansson who flew in only to take part in the talk show –  unfortunately had to leave directly after being on stage. Chris Van Steenbergen, however, stuck around for the evening and many of the almost 600 senior executives, board members and directors from the consumer goods and retail industry had the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences with Chris in the bar. However, one can probably safely assume that a great deal of those discussions must surely have focused on the brand of beer being served at the bar 😉
